New Recording Dialog
The only way to create a new document in ScreenFlow is to create a recording. There are two ways to create a new document with a new recording:
When you select either of these options, you will be presented with the ScreenFlow recording dialog: ![]() Record Desktop from your …
ScreenFlow must always record from your desktop to create a new document, but you can additionally record from an attached video camera and/or audio device. If you have more than one monitor connected, ScreenFlow will allow you to choose between your monitors. Record Video From:
Allows you to choose which camera or video capture device you are going to record from. Please make sure your camera is plugged in and turned on in Camera Mode. Your desktop recording and the video recording will be added as separate clips to the Document Media tab of the document properties. Record Audio From:
Allows you to select the input device for your microphone. If you are recording video as well, the audio is attached to the video clip, otherwise it is added to the Document Media as a separate audio clip. Record Computer’s Audio
If this option is checked, all of the audio that is sent to your computer’s speakers is also recorded by ScreenFlow. The audio will be attached to the desktop recording. This option requires installing a driver, which you can uninstall (or re-install) via the “Advanced” tab in the Preferences. Stopping Recording
To stop the recording, use shift-command-2 (or the hot keys you’ve selected in Preferences). After Recording
When you are finished making a recording, ScreenFlow will either create a new document or add to an existing, open, document. Which action occurs depends on whether you had a document open when you began recording:
